Divine Academy Special Needs School: Start to 2020
With the new year almost 2 months through, we wanted to share how Divine Academy's 2020 has started out. Our new students are fitting in great and quickly learning important academic and lifestyle skills. Here are some of our favorite activities from January and February:
Field Day
Every week, all of our students and teachers spend many hours learning in the classroom. Field Day is the perfect occasion for everyone to get outdoors for fun games and exercise. It promotes teamwork, togetherness, and happiness for everyone.
National School Choice Week
The Divine Academy family celebrated National School Choice Week in January. School choice is the process of allowing every family to choose the K-12 educational options that best fit their children. These options include all forms of education, from traditional public schools, to public charter schools, public magnet schools, private schools, online academies, and homeschooling. Every child deserves an effective, challenging, and motivating education. Because each student has their own unique set of talents, interests, and challenges, a variety of options in education is crucial. School choice ensures that each student can find a learning environment that allows them to be inspired, successful, and happy. #NationalSchoolChoiceWeek
Community Based Instruction at the Post Office
The Students had the opportunity to learn important lifestyle skills in a real life setting. We took a trip to a local post office for fundamental on-site training. Community based instruction allows the students to take a break from their lessons at school and get hands on experience in a public setting.
The Florida Renaissance Festival
The entire Divine Academy family had an amazing day during our field trip to Quiet Waters Park for The Florida Renaissance Festival. We definitely plan on coming back next time and recommend it to anyone else who is thinking about going.
Valentine's Day Celebration
We had our Valentine's Day party at Franklin Academy Charter in Cooper City. All of the student volunteers provided a DJ, a photo booth with a photographer, a game table, food and beverages, and even a sensory room for students who needed some down time throughout the party.
All of the student volunteers provided a DJ, a photo booth with a photographer, a game table, food and beverages, and even a sensory room for students who needed some down time throughout the party. It was remarkable to see these young students give so much of themselves to our students. This event was lead by Mrs. Doucette, a teacher at Franklin Academy. Her son, Scotty, attends Divine Academy.
The students and dedicated staff even arranged a welcoming red carpet greeting. It was so uplifting to see them all come together as one 💙
